Curing

Protect moisture and temperature so the concrete meets strength and durability targets—document the method and coverage.

Methods

  • Moist curing: wet burlap, fogging, soaker hoses, blankets—keep continuously wet.
  • Curing compounds: uniform spray at specified coverage; confirm compatibility with flooring/sealers.
  • Membranes/sheets: seal edges; avoid wind-lofting; check for condensation issues.

Time & Temperature

  • Typical is ≥7 days (longer for SCMs/low temps); follow project specs/WVDOH if stricter.
  • Use maturity or cylinder breaks to verify readiness for load, traffic, or sawcuts.
  • Prevent early drying—watch wind, sun, and low RH; consider wind breaks/shade.

Inspection & QA

  • Record start/stop times, interruptions, and re-wetting cycles; photo log helps.
  • Check compound film coverage; reapply if disturbed or if rate is insufficient.
  • Coordinate with finishes and coatings early to avoid incompatibilities.
